Studies tell us that by having fathers active in the life of their families, poverty & crime goes down while emotional wellness & educational success goes up. By understanding the complexity and joys of fatherhood and relationships, we help everyone we serve be more successful, which makes our state a better place to live.
FATHER Christmas is an opportunity for people in our community to nominate great dads who are taking an active role in their families that may come up short around the holidays. FFVA will choose 75 dads from across VA and provide them with presents for their children and $500 cash for them to spend anyway they need. New babies don’t come with owners’ manuals. For first time dads, FFVA offers this virtual class to give men the confidence they need to be a great parent and support mom. Our participants get unedited, “real talk” info straight from experienced dads. In this class, there is no such thing as a dumb question and we still don’t have all the answers. However, once they are done, they are ready to start the greatest journey of all, fatherhood.
This program is for incarcerated fathers and works to bridge the gap between the inmate father and his children. We’ve build this as a partnership effort with counties in Virginia, prisons and rehabilitation organizations to form a multifaceted approach to make a real impact connecting dads with their families and children to keep the relationships strong.

In doing so, men gain valuable insight on how to move forward and be the dad his family needs him to be.

– Builds pro-fathering knowledge, attitudes, and skills in an online environment.
– Engages dads visually and interactively to deliver an enjoyable user experience.
– Is “responsive,” which means it is designed for use on any device that you or a dad wants to use (i.e. desktop, tablet, or smartphone).

Dads at School is giving $1,000 to Central Virginia schools that promote father involvement! The program supports K12 schools throughout the school year to increase father engagement. Successful participation is rewarded with an unrestricted $1,000 grant to the school’s PTA.
